Televes has an Open BIM System for the analysis and design of telecommunication installations. iTCalc is a free to download and utilise software that was developed by CYPE Ingenieros S.A. with the technical guidance and supervision of Televes S.A.

The application includes the Televes equipment catalogue to carry out the design of CATV, S/MATV, Fiber optic, Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) and Structured cabling networks diagrams. The application also includes the option to define the equipment distribution diagram in Racks and Headends.

The telecommunications networks designed using iTCalc could be generic or based on regulatory compliance due to the checks being optional and set by the users. Even so, the application includes several regulatory requirements predefined for Portugal and Spain.

The application permits the placement of telecommunication outlets into BIM projects in their exact spatial position allowing users to view their digitised appearance within the building. Calculation reports, drawings and budgets generated through iTCalc are attached to the BIM projects as well as the telecommunication outlets.

The software is integrated into the Open BIM workflow enabling the use of existing data in the project for an advanced starting point and a reduction in the project time required. It utilises the open IFC file format enabling the finished product to be exported to any BIM modelling software and ensuring the project lasts without the need for a local platform.
