Open BIM RenoZEB – Focchi Facades is a free to download program developed by CYPE within the Horizon 2020 Program and the EU Research and Innovation Framework Program, which allows the technicians of a renovation project to design its facade featuring the panels of the Italian company Focchi, in an Open BIM workflow.

With its use, the designers establish in advance the number of panels needed for each project and the size of each one, allowing the Focchi company to manufacture the necessary panels on site, improve their efficiency and save costs.

The program, thanks to the work on digital models and IFC files, includes Focchi’s own constructive solutions to the BIM model and synchronizes these elements with a project hosted on the BIMserver.center platform. In this way, the panels are integrated into the renovation project, represented in 3D and with their technical characteristics available to examine in the BIM model.

The application has information on eight types of panels manufactured by Focchi, offering concrete data on opaque, technical panels, with photovoltaic panels and with built-in solar collectors. In addition, preparations to be installed with different types of carpentry are also available. The panels can be edited when defining their dimensions, the characteristics of their thermal insulation and their surface finish.

Open BIM RenoZEB – Focchi Facades generates an IFC file with the BIM model of the Italian manufacturer’s panels and a glTF file so that the panels can be viewed in all other applications connected to the BIM model. In addition, the program generates a detailed list with quantities and characteristics of the Focchi panels used in the project.

This software has been developed as part of the RenoZEB research project: “Accelerating energy RENOvation solutions for Zero Energy Buildings and Neighbourhoods” whose objective is to develop a global work methodology that allows the integral renovations of entire neighborhoods in an energy efficient way. The project is included in the Horizon 2020 European Union strategic program.
